Haiku Contest (Theme:  TEA) :

 

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of franco-japanese relations, Chajin - The House of Japanese Green Tea, and the Association for the Promotion of Haiku (Association for the Promotion of Haïku), in France, co-organize a haiku contest, in French or in English, on the theme of TEA.

 

Article 1. Participation
Participation is free of charge and open to everyone.
Each participant may send a maximum of 2 haikus (or senryus) in the language of their choice (or both languages). The members of the jury, the owners of Chajin - The House of Japanese Green Tea and the members of the board of the Association for the Promotion of Haikus, as well as their family members, are not eligible to participate in this contest.


Article 2. Mailing of the haikus
The haiku must be sent by email at the latest on October 31, 2008.
The haikus in English are to be sent to chajin@wanadoo.fr
The haikus in French are to be sent to promohaiku@orange.fr

In the email, the author must write the following text (or his or her haiku will be excluded from participation in the contest) :
"I, the undersigned, participating in the haiku contest on the theme of tea, am the author of the texts above. I have read and understand the rules of the contest, and accept that the organizers publish my haikus without any financial payment.


Article 3. Prizes
The authors of the two best haiku selected by the jury members in each category (English and French) will receive Japanese green tea from Chajin - The House of Japanese Green Tea.
The third and fourth winning authors will receive haiku books.
A special mention will be rewarded to a haiku specifically about Japanese tea or Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu or senchado).


Article 4. Annoucement of the Results
The results, which are not subject to change, will be announced on Saturday November 15 at 11AM at CHAJIN--The House of Japanese Green Tea, 24, rue Pasquier, Paris 75008.


Article 5. Publication of the Results
The results, accompanied by the best haiku received, will be published on the websites of Chajin - The House of Japanese Green Tea (www.chajin-online.com) and the site of the Association for the Promotion of Haiku (http://www.100pour100haiku.fr), by December 2008 at the latest.


Article 6. Publication of a book
Following the organization of this contest, a book, including the best haikus received, may be published in French (and English).
Participation in this contest means that the authors accept the publication of their haikus without any financial payment.
